Okay, guys, this is where we're gonna make sure we've got the characterizations straight. Critiscism goes here, mostly. Here's mine. This is still an RP, remember. Every time we lie awake...
Punch after punch, kick after kick, every hit cut a notch in the tree, like a tally of how hard he worked. His teeth gritted together, one eye closed, his coat and pants dirty and filled with minor tears. He wiped the sweat off of his brow and sighed, panting slightly. He had been going at it for at least three hours now; he had been slacking off on his training lately, and he wanted to be in prime condition for some reason.
After every hit we take...
Sapphire occules widened and blinked, glossing over. He knew suddenly, when he stopped and thought about it. It was Sasuke. That damned Sasuke, it was always him...always about him...He grimaced, suddenly clutching at his stomach, remembering the blows he had to endure when both of them were just 13. He had failed to retrieve him then, and he hated himself for it...but now that Sasuke was back...things were a little better. Not excellent, but still.
Every feeling that I get...But I haven't missed you yet...
He kicked at the tree in pent up frustration. His headband tails whipped behind him with the sudden motion. Fangs momentarilly showed, and eyes glinted red. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down.
Movement came from the bush behind him. Without a second thought, he jumped up at lighting, ninja speed so that he was almost invisible and landed in a branch of the tree he had been beating up. His eyes scanned below, his breathing hard and fast, but barely heard. He wiped his nose casually, watching to see who had sneaked up on him. I hate everything about you... Why do I love you? A dark-haired adolescent ambled slowly through the training grounds, soft grey eyes downcast, watching his sandals' every step. He looked deep in thought, almost walking straight into a tree from his ignorance. The teen stared at the tall oak, hand touching his head lightly as if he could really feel the inexistent impact. Maybe he was feeling the pain of his already-healed scar on his head, still wrapped in a coarse white bandage to protect it in the future. The bandage made his hair stick up unnaturally, and if he kept it on any longer, it'd probably stay like that.
Hideki turned his head slowly as sounds of impact reached his ears. As he listened carefully, he could even catch the sound of training person's deep pants and, eventually, the sound of him kicking the tree angrily, followed by deep breaths. What in the world was that . . .? He started towards the noise, rustling a bush noisily on accident. He heard almost nothing and couldn't even hear him perching softly on the tree. The teenager emerged from the side of the bush, grey eyes blinking tentatively. He looked around at the ground quickly, looking clueless as if he had no idea where the person had gone.

I hate everything about you... Why do I love you?
Naruto's eyes narrowed as he watched an adolescent emerge from the bushes. Just a kid...He snarled at himself. Baka... But, as he thought about it, he knew that he should probably be on his guard. Nobody would've expected so much power from Sasuke, so he knew better than to underestimate any kid, no matter how weak they looked. He slowly moved his hand to his kunai pouch, barely making a rustle as he watched the kid look around, bewildered. He undid the latch and drew a kunai from the purse on his leg. Orbs narrowed as he waited, watching, just to make sure the kid wouldn't try something funny...
Only when I stop to think about it...I hate everything about you...
He inhaled deeply before gripping the side of the tree. The black trails of his headpiece waved behind him as a gust of wind suddenly rustled the trees. He inhaled. He could easily be uncovered in this environment, especially with unpredictable winds. A small leaf broke off the stem of it's mother's branch, floating lazily down, down, down to the kid with the bandage. Naruto couldn't help but smile at the kid's hair. It reminded him of when he was younger and when his hair was longer...when he was lying awake in bed with a large bandage on his head as he formulated his plans to retrieve Sasuke...
You hate everything about me...why do you love me?
He growled. Stop thinking about Sasuke. It was his choice...but somehow, he felt that he himself was to blame for the whole incident. He closed his eyes sadly, the hand with the kunai lowering slightly. What's the use? If he couldn't stop Sasuke from leaving, what could he do? [/blockquote]

Hideki was still looking around, eyes wide and bewildered as he sought out the source of the noise before. His head swung from side to side, hands up somewhere below his chin on his chest in a somewhat defenseless pose. He stood still for a few seconds, closing his eyes and straining his ears to catch the sound of any living thing. . . .
A growl.
Hideki opened his eyes and beamed happily as he averted his eyes towards the light noise. He hadn't noticed the lowered kunai, the troubled expression of Naruto's face, but only caught the bright blonde hair and black-and-orange uniform. He'd heard legends about this guy! It was rumored that Tsunade really favored this guy--he must be really great.
"Hello!" the young teen called, waving his hand wildly into the air. "Are you that Uzumaki Naruto guy?"

I...hate...you...hate...I...hate...you love me...
Naruto grinned as he watched the bewildered face of the young one. He twirled his kunai around. Maybe, just maybe he could win one more fight...He closed his eyes and smiled sadly. He'd defeat Sasuke one day, and become Hokage! That was his dream, his ninja way; he would never back down, he would never give up! What was he thinking before? I can do ANYTHING! Dattebayo! his mind screamed. He lifted the hand that was holding his kunai, aiming for the kid...ready to strike when he did...
Every roomate lay awake...
"Hello! Are you that Uzumaki Naruto guy?" Naruto blinked, bewildered slightly, lowering his kunai. He hopped out of the tree by swinging his legs over it, using his hands for levrage while clutching the kunai in his mouth; an old habit of his. He landed softly, his hair tousled with a few scattered leaves here and there, and the kunai still in his mouth. "Yeah, what's it to ya?" he asked, taking the kunai out and narrowing his eyes. He had learned long ago to never trust anybody...not even friendly kids...once the kid seemed trustworthy, he'd let his guard down. But not now. He even gave the kid a grin and kitsune eyes, pocketing the kunai. He said nothing, waiting for the other kid to speak first. From every silent scream we make...Thoughts buzzed in his head, telling him to trust the boy, no don't, he could be dangerous, one of those Orochimaru seeds that he overheard a few ANBU talking about, but he's harmless, but he isn't...He shook his head slightly and scratched the back of his neck. Whatever this one did next would determine if he was truly trustworthy or not.[/blockquote]

The young boy watched as the kunai was raised, mouth gaping slightly at the mere shininess of the thing. He watched as the young adult jumped cooly out of the tree, kunai placed in mouth and hair disheveled with leaves. Wow. . . How does his mouth not get cut? Hideki wondered, a happy atmosphere surrounding him. It grew even larger as he heard the answer.
Hideki brought his hands to his mouth, eyes glittering with pure joy. There was a moment of silence which seemed nothing but golden for the enthusiastic boy. Suddenly, he raised one hand horizontally and pointed at Naruto with a single index finger. "You're famous!" he squeaked, completely forgetting his troubles from before. He started hopping up and down in excitement, black hair bouncing along in rhythm. "Well, not that famous, but you're a great ninja, or at least it sounds like you are from what I heard!" He looked up expectantly, grey eyes no longer dull with worry but instead shimmering, positively glistening with jubilation.

Every feeling that I get...
Naruto blinked slowly. His grin dissappeared at the kid's reaction. He was in total shock. "You're famous!" he squeaked. He blinked again, blankly. "Well, not that famous, but you're a great ninja, or at least it sounds like you are from what I heard!" The kid was bouncing up and down in sheer ecstasy. His eyes were grey, filled with glee and excitement.
Over...over me...?
He swallowed. A small smile began to morph onto his face. Every second it got bigger, and bigger, and bigger until finally he was grinning wildly. He started laughing and scratched the back of his neck. This kid reminded him of when he was younger himself...he was hyper, just like the grey eyed boy. And if he met his idol, then he would be bouncing up and down too! "That's me, dattebayo!" he shouted, one hand on his hip, the other in the air, two fingers in a peace sign flying above his head. "The number one hyperactive ninja, Uzumaki Naruto!"
But I still don't miss you yet...
He lowered his hands and stared down at the kid. He seemed young, only about 13 or 14. A genin. He grinned. His eyes sparkled with the memories of when he was just a genin...the exams, how many times he failed...all because of the Shadow Clone jutsu...now his signature...What an ironic world this is..."What's your name, anyway?" he asked suddenly, taking out another kunai just to twirl it around in his fingers in a fancy manner. Showing off was one thing. Gloating was something else. At least in Naruto's mind it was.
Will I ever miss you yet...?

Hideki was still gaping slightly, eyes shimmering with pure joy. So . . . it really was him! Through mere rumors of this crazy, hyperactive gegin, Hideki started to see him as his role model. He wasn't exactly sure when it started, but over time he found himself doing things similar to the blonde boy. Eating ramen in Icharaku's, throwing (origami) shurikens all over his room, coming to the training grounds and challenging random trees, things like that. But now, it was pretty obvious that Hideki could never become as good as Uzumaki-san without more training. . .
"What's your name, anyways? Hideki found himself watching the kunai rather than answering the question. He stared at the twirling piece of sharp metal for a few seconds, mesmerized by how the skilled fingers managed not to cut themselves. Then he stood up in attention, hands quick at his sides. What was he doing, just standing there like a dazed fool? "I'm Hideki! Fujii Hideki," he replied hastily. "Pleased to meet you, Uzumaki-san!"

But I will always...
Naruto blinked again at the kid. He seemed quite inspired by him, to say the least. He grinned, becoming a bit embarassed. He's never really had a true fan before. It made him feel powerful, like he could do anything he wanted to. Sasuke always had fans his own age when they were still in the Ninja Academy, but now, Naruto realized that having a fan younger than you was just as good, if not better. Young ones could be taught, could be trained...and they looked up to you.
Always...
He continued to spin the kunai with his fingers absentmindedly. The boy's eyes were glued to it, mesmerized. He grinned and twirled a bit faster. Anyone could tell that Naruto was eating this moment alive, savoring it so that he could possibly rub it in Sakura-chan's face later, or anyone else who told him that he'd amount to nothing, that he couldn't be anything at all...His other hand tightened in a fist. He'd show 'em...he'd show 'em all what true power really meant...he'd be Hokage-sama one day...and then everybody would have to pay attention to him...
Love you...
The boy snapped out of his reverie and stood up in attention, almost as if he were a soldier ninja in a large army addressing the general. "I'm Hideki! Fujii Hideki! Pleased to meet you, Uzumaki-san!" he barked hurriedly. Nartuo grinned at his behaviour. Hideki seemed as if he'd jump right out of his skin. "You too, Fujii-chan!" he said, grinning. "Are you still in the Ninja Academy, or have you graduated yet?"
For some reason, he wished more than anything in the world to stay this kid's idol...to become a mentor to someone...to have someone to look up to him...
Hate you...

"I'm sorta still in the academy," Hideki murmured, arm reaching around his neck and scratching it in embarrassment. He chuckled nervously, an awkward grin on his face. "I'm not exactly the best in my class, if you know what I mean." A small blush touched his cheeks and he looked down at his fingers, suddenly interested in his nails. Though he wasn't the worst, he wasn't exactly a straight-A student. Sure, his written exams went pretty well but the missions were just another story. He'd always found a way to make it . . . not perfect.

I can't escape this hell...
Naruto blinked softly at the ki--Hideki's embarassment. "I'm not exactly the best in my class, if you know what I mean," he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck. The demon vessel's eyes widened slightly. This kid...he was like his clone...! "I know how you feel. I was never the best of my class either," he said sheepishly. He grinned. "I failed three times before I actually became a ninja," he said, laughing nervously.
So many times I've tried...
His mind wandered back to their first training session with Kakashi-sensei, when Sasuke gave him his lunch when he was tied to the pole...Working together was the key. That was the biggest lesson he learned that day. That was the biggest lesson he'd ever learned at all. He missed the simpler days of training and going on C class missions, but he wouldn't trade what he had now for the world; now, he was gaining respect. People he didn't even know, adolescents even were greeting him. Now, he had a following.
No, he wouldn't trade it for anything...
But I'm still caged inside...

Sparkling Angel
Unaware of the world around her, Sakura made her way toward the training area. Sasuke was back finally. She sighed. So was Naruto and the whole gang. She sighed sadly. Her eyes teared up. She found out that Sasuke wouldn't give her a chance. She thought she world was about to end. She wasn't a child anymore. She didn't have a crush on Sasuke. She was in love with him. Her damned feeling of lust for him got in the way all the time. She was a distance away from the training arena. She heard someone was there already. Probably Naruto she figured. He was training so hard. She stopped. Would she be able to handle talking with Naruto if Sasuke came into the conversation?
I believe
She would. She had too. If she didn't face the fact now, it would haunt her for the rest of her life. She sighed. She walked toward the gate. She pushed it open gently and noticed another student there. She smiled. He seemed like an academy student or a possible genin. She smiled. She was chuunin after many months of work. She finally accomplished one of her set goals. Her next goal was to become a jounin then a nin.
You were my saviour...In my time of need
She took a deep breathed and walked in. "Hello Naruto," she said. She walked over closer to the two of them. She stood there. The other ninja was a younger student with black hair and gray eyes. She smiled at him. She wondered who he was. She would hide all the pain deep inside of her and hope Naruto would just leave the topic alone. " How are you today, Naruto?she asked kindly trying to hide the pain.

Hideki continued looking quite sheepish, picking some gunk out of the bottom of his nail. The adolescent's eyes widened slightly, still not moving from his hand, at Naruto's next words. He moved his head up so fast that his neck cracked loudly, and he brought a hand up to rub at the sore spot absentmindedly. Respect was in his eyes once again. "You're lying to me, aren't you, Uzumaki-san?" he breathed softly. "A person as great as Uzumaki-san couldn't have failed three times, could they?"
Then he turned around as Sakura walked into the picture. Soft, short pink hair and large green eyes along with an equally large forehead. . . Who was this girl? He moved again to catch a different angle of her, wondering if he could recognize her from anywhere. She seemed familiar, like someone you'd see every day on the street, but it wasn't like you could really remember them. Then again, could he really forget someone with pink hair and green eyes? He decided to drop it and huddled up behind Naruto instead.

Blinded by Faith
Sakura tilted her head and wondered why the boy hid behind Naruto. She blinked and smiled. " I'm Sakura Haruno. I was one of Naruto's teammaters when we were genin," she said with a smile. She hoped that he would at least recognize her. She was being trained by Tsunade herself. She was one of the most knowledgable students of her class. Oh well. Her face showed a little dismay, but she wouldn't let it get to her. She stood up straight. " Working hard I see, Naruto," she said. I couldn't hear...all the whispers...the warning's so clear [/blockquote]

Hideki shuffled out from behind Naruto, looking up at Sakura with a bit of confusion written across his face. "One of Uzumaki-san's classmates. . . ?" he repeated slowly, clarifying it to himself out loud. He hadn't researched a thing about Naruto, only heard about him and asked about him when the opportunity came up. Every time he got into a small conversation, though, he caught a whisper of 'Uchiha Sasuke,' and that was pretty much it. He'd heard that the famed name was now back in Konoha, but he had yet to meet the ex-mis-nin.
